Hello and welcome to the Alexandra Water Warriors blog!

We are a community-driven initiative that seeks to advocate for clean and accessible water in Alexandra, Johannesburg. Our mission is to hold local leaders accountable and raise awareness about the importance of a healthy and sustainable environment.

Founded in 2021 as part of the Jukskei River Project, we are committed to rehabilitating the Jukskei River and turning it into a tourism attraction. This project is championed by the Greater Alexandra Tourism and Heritage Association in partnership with various organizations, including the Greater Alexandra Greening Route, Greater Alexandra Youth in Tourism Business, The Hub Presents, Water for the Future, and many more.

Our work is centered around three key areas: advocacy, education, and action. Through advocacy, we aim to hold local leaders accountable for their responsibilities in ensuring clean and accessible water in our community. Through education, we raise awareness about the importance of a healthy and sustainable environment, and the impact of pollution on our health and wellbeing. And through action, we organize clean-up campaigns, conduct water quality tests, and work with local government officials to address the issues of pollution and poor infrastructure that have plagued the river for years.

We believe that collaboration is key to achieving our goals, and we work closely with other organizations and stakeholders to mobilize a diverse range of voices and perspectives. By coming together, we can build a stronger, more resilient community that is better equipped to face the challenges of our time.

Our work has already made an impact in our community, and we have received recognition from local media outlets and prominent figures in the South African environmental community. But there is still much work to be done, and we need your help to make a lasting impact. Whether you're a local resident, a business owner, or an environmental activist, we invite you to join us in our fight for clean and accessible water in Alexandra.

In future blog posts, we will share updates on our work, highlight the successes of our community partners, and provide resources and tips for getting involved in environmental activism. We hope that you will find our blog informative and inspiring, and that together we can make a positive impact on our community and the environment.
